“After 12 years in Asia and a few moves, I kept saying to myself that I'll buy 'my own' furniture when I return home and continued to live with the mismatch of what we had accumulated with each move. When COVID arrived...and stayed...I felt it was important to create my own space since like everyone, we were spending so much time at home.
I was introduced to Grace by a friend and that's when a few months of fun started. I had outlined to Grace that I wanted a relaxed feeling and neutral theme, which should be consistent throughout the apartment. “We’ve been in Singapore for almost 8 years with the familiar initial plan of coming for 2. This has meant that with the constant moving when our leases were up, the addition of 2 kids and a dog and not knowing when we’d return home, I focused my decorating efforts on practicality with only the bare essentials. “5 Stars! I decided to hire Havana Interiors when we signed the lease on a new place after having lived in the same apartment for 6 years. We have accumulated a lot of stuff (thanks to our two kids) over the years and leaned heavily on the availability and practicability of Ikea. The result was a mix of designer pieces and lots of Ikea furniture that served their purpose when the kids were younger.
We wanted a clean, modern and cozy look and invest in some pieces that would last in the years to come. Cue in Grace with her vision and experience as an interior designer internationally and knowledge of the Singapore interior design market.

"Havana Interiors have given us extensive interior design advice regarding our apartment in Singapore. We requested a more modern and fresh look of our living area as most of our furniture was already nine years old. Given that we have three young children and that we move countries every so many years, we wanted to focus on durable furniture.
At our first appointment we were asked a lot of useful questions through which they came to know why we had certain pieces of furniture, how we used them and if we would be open to change them. The next time we were given a professional presentation of different options of beautiful new items that she had found. We had a look at the items in the various stores and we were accompanied to some of the outlets! We bought most of what she had suggested straight away, it all looks so elegant!
Grace had a good a good eye for detail and were very practical in terms of child friendly furniture. For the book shelves (we have a lot of books!) we wanted to explore a bit further to make sure we made the right choice. We were given a lot of other options to compare, so that we finally made the choice to go for one of the first options.
Throughout this decision making process, Grace weas very patient and gave us time and space to think. As we love our antique dining table she suggested to make it brighter by having it sanded to bare and then finish it with a white wash lacquer. This worked out very well, the table looks super fresh but still has that antique feeling to it. I can truly say that the change of just a few items only, made a big difference in the look and feel of our apartment. We are really happy with our new modern and light interior design!
